  • What kind of ipod does this work with ...

  • Any 5th generation ipod. Ipods prior to the 5th generation ipod do not support video.

  • how do I get the videos on to my ipod ...

  • If you've got the libgpod python bindings installed, you should be able to add the files directly from TLF using the Upload button, once the videos have been encoded. If you don't have the libgpod python bidings, you'll have to use gtkpod, which is the only linux based ipod application (as far as I know) that supports video upload.

  • When I open files, TLF keeps telling me the file is corrupt or not a valid video file. What does that mean ...

  • It could mean a number of things. The main problem is that either the video film is corrupt, or you don't have a version of ffmpeg compiled with support for xvid and h264. Have a look at the installation instructions on how to get a version of ffmpeg with the correct support.

  • Why doesn't thin liquid provide more output options ...

  • TLF is designed to be a simple but flexible encoding application for the ipod supported formats. It is not a universal encoding gui. I have provided enough options to give some flexibility in the output format, while keeping things simple. I figure people who know about additional options will be competent enough to use ffmpeg from the command line.

  • TLF keeps telling me that it can't read my ipod. I've plugged it in, so what gives ...

  • TLF requires that your ipod is mounted before it can upload files. Most distros these days will automount your ipod. If not, then mount it as you normally would when transferring files to it. Once mounted at the correct mountpoint, TLF should be able to read and upload to it. The other possibility is that the ipod is not mounted on the mountpoint specified under the Upload Info tab.

  • When I upload the files to my ipod, TLF tells me it's successfully transferred the files, but they're not there. Help ...

  • If you've got another application open that accesses the ipod at the same time as TLF, this can interfere with TLF's transfer. Make sure that any other application (like amarok and gtkpod) are closed, and then remount the ipod, adn re-transfer the files.

  • When I convert a video, the interface freezes, and no progress bar appears. If I run it from a terminal, I get a whole lot of lines of output, and every second line says "no match". Please help ...

  • This is often caused by a bug in *ubuntu edgy. For some reason, the default shell in edgy is the dash shell, rather than bash. This means that a lot of bash scripts don't work very well in edgy. This affects thinliquidfilm. See the article here for a detailed explanation of how to fix this.
